E-Commerce Marketing - Fall 2011

The site I chose to use was Amazon. I use this site quite often so I was interested to take a look at it from the point of view using the examples Professor Hersey provided in this week's lesson.

The first item I noticed was social media. Amazon has a section for "Gold Box Deals", this is a part of the site that offers daily deals on items they sell. You can follow the Gold Box Deals on Twitter, they have a link to send you there.

This next strategy is one I know they use because I am a frequent customer on their website, they are excellent at customer service. Any time I have had issues with a purchase or a second party vendor they have always been courteous and quick to solve the problem.

As you can guess from the last paragraph they also use partnering. Amazon has a lot of second party vendors. I have bought items from a website called MCM Electronics on the Amazon website. When you click on the item you find out the information as to who the company is that sells that item. It usually reads something like this, "SOLD BY (INSERT COMPANY NAME) and FULFILLED BY AMAZON.
